Angela Scanlon’s Close Encounters (RTÉ2, 10pm) 

This week, flame-haired presenter Angela Scanlon meets flame-haired WWE wrestler Sheamus, AKA Stephen Farrelly from Dublin. Scanlon watches Sheamus prepare for his next match, and the pair chat about the physical demands of wrestling as well as Sheamus’ persona in the ring. #closeencounters

River (BBC1, 9pm)

The second episode of a six-part drama series, starring Stellan Skarsgaard (him from Mamma Mia) as the titular detective. After his colleague is murdered, he searches for her killer, despite being excluded from the case. #river

Mud (Film4, 9pm)

Widely considered to be stage one of the McConaissance, Mud stars Matthew McConaughey as as a fugitive who enlists the help of two boys to evade the vigilantes on his trail.

Everybody’s talking about: Gilmore Girls

Want to go back to Stars Hollow? Rumours abound that Neflix have closed a deal to revive Gilmore Girls.

TV Line reports that all of the main cast are expected back – the programme will be aired as four 90-minute episodes. EEEEE!
